Hello visitor!
I am Kersti S. Kodas, Art Director at Serenity Forge, a video game design and production company based out of Boulder, Colorado. I have been with SF as its Art Director since 2014, and have since worked on and directed the art for a variety of projects. I have filled pretty much every artistic role in a game development pipeline including promotional artist, UI artist, 3d artist, texture artist, 2d illustrator, 2d game asset artist, and of course art director and producer.
I am primarily a 3D and technical artist, but since I work at a small studio I do pretty much anything vaguely art related. Having so much range gives me the opportunity not only to express myself creatively, but also challenges me technically.
My leadership role allows me to organize and optimize our production schedules, a task which I have found extremely fullfilling. But most of all, I simlpy love working in the game industry because I love the ability to interact with what I create and tell a story not just through narrative but through interaction.
I am a proud graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Visual Effects and a BFA in Game Design. My education in visual effects has provided me with knowledge pertaining to not only pre-rendered grapgics pipelines, but also technical art, and scripting. This breadth of knowledge allows me to anticipate technical problems and create work that can travel down the pipeline smoothly and efficiently. My software proficiencies include Maya, Unity, UDK, and Photoshop. I also have experience with the coding languages C#, MEL, Unrealscript, and Python.
I like to think of myself as a technical person, but I am still very much an artist at heart. I want to be part of projects that awe and inspire others. I want to bring emotion and depth not just into the art, but into the core functionality of a project, making the way something works enhance and compliment the way it looks. I enjoy problem solving, and use it as my method of artistic expression.
I like sharks, pirates, ferrets, bandanas, and cheese.
My favorite games are: Journey, Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask, Myst, Minecraft, and FTL.
